May 1, 2020

Dear Families, Friends and Staff Members,

Governor DeWine announced there is no plan to reopen nursing homes for visitors at Skilled Nursing Facilities, as part of the Responsible Restart Ohio Plan, beginning May 1.

I know we are all excited and anxious to see our loved ones after being apart for so long, but bear with us as the state of Ohio works through getting us back to a new norm.  Rest assured, Southern Hills continues to take precautions to limit risk and work exposure.

We continue to follow Ohio Department of Health and Center Disease Control which are restricting visitors, wearing appropriate protective gear, social distancing and monitoring temperatures, oxygen levels, respiratory symptoms, and vital signs multiple times per day.

We continue to work with residents and families to keep in touch!   We encourage you to reach out to our residents by phone, a text based message at http://www.southernhillsnursing.com/resident-messages/ or schedule a Skype call by emailing southern-family@southernhillsnursing.com.

Governor Dewine’s current Plan:

Beginning May 1, 2020, generally, medically necessary procedures that do not require overnight stays in a healthcare facility can restart. Dental and veterinary services may resume under certain circumstances as well.

Beginning on May 4, 2020, manufacturing, distribution, and construction businesses may reopen if they meet mandatory safety requirements for customers and employees. The full Responsible RestartOhio plan can be found at coronavirus.ohio.gov/ResponsibleRestartOhio.

Also on May 4, 2020, general office environments may reopen if they can meet mandatory safety requirements for customers and employees. The full Responsible RestartOhio plan can be found at coronavirus.ohio.gov/ResponsibleRestartOhio.

On May 12, 2020, consumer, retail and services, may reopen if they can meet mandatory safety requirements for customers and employees. The full Responsible RestartOhio plan can be found at coronavirus.ohio.gov/ResponsibleRestartOhio.

We will keep you updated as we hear anything new about Skilled Nursing Care specifically.  Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this difficult time.

We Remain In This Together,

Sean Kenny, Administrator
